What is a transit chart?
A transit is a moving planet making contact with a point in your birth chart. A transit chart shows those contacts by placing the planets of a chosen date over your natal houses and planets. Astrology links transits of fast planets (the Moon, Mercury, Venus) with short-lived themes and those of slow planets with longer ones.
How to read the result
Start with the aspect list: a line such as "Transit Saturn square natal Sun" means Saturn on that date forms a 90° angle with the Sun at your birth. The smaller the orb, the more exact the aspect. Then look at the natal house the transiting planet passes through; in astrology the house describes the area of life where the theme shows up. Positions were checked against the Swiss Ephemeris used by professional software and agree to within a hundredth of a degree.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a transit chart and a birth chart?
Your birth chart is the sky at the moment you were born and never changes. A transit chart lays the sky of another date over it: which natal houses the planets cross that day, and which aspects they make to the planets in your birth chart.
Which aspects and orbs are used?
The five major aspects: conjunction, opposition, square, trine and sextile. Transits are read tightly, so the orb is limited to 2° and only aspects active on that date are listed, tightest first.
Do transits tell me what will happen?
No. Astrology associates each transit with themes; this page shows those themes and a question to reflect on. It does not say that an event occurs, or when.
Why does the Moon change so quickly?
The Moon moves about 13° a day and spends around two and a half days in each sign, so Moon transits change within hours. Transits of slow planets such as Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto last months or even years.
